Each North Carolina district sets its own 2026-2027 school schedule. Some districts also publish separate calendars for individual schools, programs, or tracks.
Start with the district calendar
Use the district directory to find the school system, then check its first day, Thanksgiving break, winter break, spring break, and last day. The district page groups those dates together and links to the published calendar when available.
Confirm the calendar assigned to your school
A district may operate traditional, modified, year-round, elementary, secondary, early-college, or program-specific calendars. When a page offers a calendar or track selector, choose the option assigned to the school.
Dates worth checking before you plan
The key dates most likely to affect childcare, travel, and family scheduling are:
- The first and last student day
- Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks
- Districtwide student holidays and teacher workdays
- Early release or half-day dates
- Calendar-specific track-out or intersession dates
Use the official source for final decisions
Use the current district calendar for travel bookings, childcare, and other firm plans. Give Draft and Projected pages an extra confirmation before relying on a date.
